Physical Science Review
This is a great video for curious little minds and is presented well for a young audience. I think Grade 5 students would find the presentation style a little young. But because the concepts are well presented from simple to more complex concepts, younger children can easily benefit from the videos. We find The Magic School Bus videos and books a good companion to this video as The Magic School Bus videos are more engaging and the books cover the concepts in a lot more detail. However, this Rock 'n Learn video covers some concepts not covered by The Magic School Bus.

great for children who are autistic - Julia M. Billewicz -
My son since he was 4 years old has loved these videos from Rock n Learn. My son is high functioning autistic. We have every single video there is and also the tapes. Some are better then others but most of them are OUTSTANDING..........
Not the worst I've seen - Charles Olson - Fresno, CA
This video has middle school science concepts but is very animated and almost Barney-like in its annoying characters. But since I had few choices in this area of science I bought it. Thought it was a multi-volume set on each topic, but it's ONE video with a few minutes dedicated to each topic. If you find others pass this by........

Wendy Wu - Homecoming Warrior Review
With male and female children it's hard to find movies they both will enjoy. Brenda Song delivers the relatablilty to young women. With the martial arts twist and plot that both genders enjoy my son is entertained too. I did not find the polt confusing as other reviews stated. I found the movie entertaining and liked it very much. The part many people misunderstand is the plot does not jump around, but delivers a history to support the plot. I find other cultures fascinating whether the story is a Chinese fairy tale or not I felt it had a couple corny parts but overall well done.

Wendy Wu - Homecoming Warrior Specifications
To her friends, Wendy Wu (Brenda Song) is an average teenager with an almost perfect life and a dream of becoming homecoming queen. Chinese legend, on the other hand, declares that Wendy is first and foremost the reincarnation of a powerful woman warrior from the Wei Dynasty who is destined to fight the newly-awakened, evil Yan Lo. When Shen (Shin Koyamada), a most untraditional Buddhist monk, arrives in Fair Springs, California to begin training Wendy in the art of Kung Fu, Wendy is skeptical and uncooperative until a series of strange events involving her family, friends, and teachers force her to consider her priorities from a whole new perspective. Some serious Kung Fu training whips Wendy's body into shape, but it is her state and strength of mind that will ultimately determine her path and the destiny of the larger world. Disney star Brenda Song (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) shows true martial arts prowess in this action-packed film as does Shin Koyamada (Constellation). Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) also plays a supporting role. Bonus features include an exclusive alternate ending, a look at the intensive martial arts training that predated the film, a cast connections segment that is basically a television biography of Brenda Song, and an episode of The Suite Life of Zach and Cody in which London (Brenda Song) is disastrously enrolled in parochial school and Zach and Cody learn a lesson about spying. Wendy Wu is Excellent! - Laronent - New York, NY, USA
This is a wonderful film for the whole family. Brenda Song is a beautiful and gifted actress. Of course some moments are silly, but you don't watch a disney movie and expect Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. This film teaches you to respect your family and respect your past.
Family Favorite Chinese Movie - K. Bodshaug - Milwaukee, WI
We purchased this for a friend adopted from China. Great movie with modern setting and Chinese/American culture. Not just another Kung Fu movie. It also protrays an Asian girl in a powerful role.
A really cute movie - Alisteal - Indiana USA
I really like this movie and my children like it too. It's cute and is a good movie to watch when you want to de-stress and see a happy ending. I found the plot while simple very sweet and the teenagers acted real. Teenagers are at times whiny and do have their own goals in mind. That's what Wendy did, but when faced with her friend being in a fight alone she stepped up and forgot her own goals.

Mother Goose Treasury - Vol. 1 Specifications
Tired of inane sing-along videos with cheesy music and a lack of cohesiveness? The Mother Goose Treasury, Vol. 2 features fully orchestrated songs, elaborate costuming, bright backgrounds, and even a story line! The scatterbrained Mother Goose and her young gosling Bertram are headed to town to complete some grocery shopping. Along the way they encounter a plethora of famous Mother Goose characters, including Jack (as in "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick"), Miss Muffet, Mary (and her lamb), Humpty Dumpty, and Simple Simon. Each encounter elicits a recitation of the appropriate story, either in song or verse, complete with choreography, puppetry, and onscreen subtitles. The "puppetronic" technology deserves special mention--it brings the puppetry to life and is suggestive of Jim Henson's Muppet productions. Joining the puppets is a large cast of human actors who sing, dance, and generally enthrall audiences from 3 to 8 years old. This volume offers 58 minutes of sing-along fun that kids will request repeatedly. For more Mother Goose sing-alongs, check out Mother Goose Treasury, Vol. 1. --Tami Horiuchi

Best Buy My Baby Can Talk – First Signs
My Baby Can Talk - First Signs Review
I can't praise these three DVDs enough. My 19-month-old granddaughter absolutely loves them. The first one (First Signs) helped her over a rough spot around 1 year when she knew what she wanted but was frustrated because she couldn't communicate. Learning "milk" and "more" made her life much smoother.
She continues to learn (and use) new signs but even more important is how these videos have aided her speech. Not only does she have a huge vocabulary, she works hard to pronounce words accurately, because they enunciate the words so clearly on the DVD. When I heard her say "purple" absolutely perfectly yesterday, I was blown away.
I also love how she interacts with the video. She doesn't just sit and stare at it. She anticipates the image that will display next and is so proud of herself when she's right! During the cloud portion, for example, she'll grin and say "baaa" and sure enough, the next images are sheep-shaped clouds. So she applauds herself.
She had some Baby Einstein videos and initially was not interested in watching them. It seems like these videos have taught her what videos are all about, because now she will watch (and learn from) Baby Einsteins ... but the My Baby Can Talk series is definitely her favorite.

Great for kids with language delays. - Liesl M. Geschke - Loma Linda, CA USA
The "My Baby Can Talk" series is amazing. My 2 1/2 yr old daughter has speech apraxia and is severely delayed in her speech. She loves these videos. She watches one every day. She knows almost all of the signs and is trying to say the words that go with them. Adding these videos to her speech therapy has really helped to boost her speech. She just started using 2 word phrase this month and just the past two days started simple three word phrases. We have only had the videos since Christmas. My son just turned one in December and his vocabulary has taken off. He now has over 25 words and is attempting many of the signs. Every day I hear new sounds and words from him. I like the videos because they are simple and not over produced like some of the more popular signing videos. They compare to Baby Einstein in style but are more language based. The words they have chosen are words both my kids use every day and are of things they are interested in. I would highly recommend these videos especially to if your child has a language delay.
Fantastic - Ashley Levanway Brown - Memphis, TN
The My Baby Can Talk series has been great for us. We started when our daughter was 11 months and she took to it right away, signing like crazy all day long. We've since bought the entire series. Not only has our child learned to sign watching this series, she's learned meaning of words and pronunciation. She watches them over and over, never tiring of them almost a year later.

Roberta Review
As others have noted, the negative criticism of this excellent film is both uninformed and off-point. Randolph Scott is "wooden" because he's playing a former football player, contrasting with the irrepressible vitality of Astaire & Rogers, and the awesome talents of Irene Dunne, which must have taken some effort for Scott, who could be quite unreserved off-camera. It's also a film full of interesting historical perspectives, from emigre Russian aristocrats in Paris, to Astaire's aspersions against the outfits he's supposed to be selling in the fashion show, itself a staple of films of that time and after, e.g., "The Women" and "How To Marry A Millionaire." Yes, the dancing doesn't occupy quite as much time as it does in other Astaire-Rogers films, but with Dunne and Scott on the set, who cares? And then there's Jerome Kern's music, which should make any discerning mind wonder exactly what happened to American theatrical composition and popular song between his era and the present. But that's the stuff of a documentary, not the engagingly pure, multifaceted entertainment that "Roberta" offers. More than two thumbs up: this one gets a double high-five!
Roberta Overview
Fun's in fashion when Fred, Ginger, Irene Dunn and Randolph Scott enter the world of Paris fashions. Marvelous Jerome Kern music graces standards like Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and I Won't Dance.
Roberta Specifications
When Huck Haines (Fred Astaire) and his jazz band of Wabash Indianians find themselves stuck in Paris without a paying gig, it's up to his buddy John (Randolph Scott) to appeal to his aunt, the legendary dressmaker Roberta (Helen Westley), for help. He also finds a Russian princess (Irene Dunne) working in the shop and a down-home American girl (Ginger Rogers) masquerading as a Polish countess because it's the best way to get a singing job. Roberta was the third RKO collaboration between Astaire and Rogers, and it's one of the more tepid, with too much time spent on 1930s Parisian fashion and the romance between Dunne and Scott. Dunne gets top billing and the best Jerome Kern ballads ("Yesterdays," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"), but as the second-banana couple Astaire and Rogers still get a tap battle, a romantic duet, and plenty of comic banter. In short, the Fred and Ginger magic is there, but not nearly enough of it. For more, watch the films immediately preceding and succeeding, The Gay Divorcee and Top Hat. --David Horiuchi

Great Old Movie - Terri Febuary - Alexandria, LA United States
This is a fun old fashioned movie. I bought it for my son who is learning to tap dance at the age of 32. he loves it too. Just sit back, relax and enjoy. They don't make entertainment like this anymore.
It's not all dance. - Ron A. - Indiana
Fred and Ginger, as always, are great; but it would also be a great injustice to overlook Irene Dunne's performance in this classic. Her singing is first rate, her acting is excellent and, without a doubt, she is "lovely to look at". All this---and Lucy too!
Another Underrated Musical - Craig Connell - Lockport, NY USA
I found this to be a very entertaining musical with some decent mixture of songs, comedy and romance. There are no less than three leading ladies and they all look good. Two of them are big names: Irene Dunne and Ginger Rogers.
There's Fred Astaire in here, too, so I guess we can call this another "Astaire-Rogers film." If so, I think it's one of their best and certainly one of their most underrated. You don't hear much about this movie, and that's unfair.
Rogers and Astaire both have some funny lines in this film and I wish Ginger's role had been bigger. She and Astaire do a couple of tap dance numbers that are excellent - some of their best work together. Dunne's first two songs aren't bad but you have the rest. Her soprano voice almost broke my eardrums, especially with "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes."
Randolph Scott, Helen Westley and Claire Dodd also star in this dated-but-generally fun movie.

Barney's Great Adventure - The Movie Review
To me, at first the story started out with a very boring family travel trip in a boring mini van with mom and pop. My initial thoughts, "Hmm... this must be a boring DVD." However it turned out the opposite with many surprises like flying wood log, hatching egg, and favorite characters... WOW! My 2-yr old daughter is totally caught into the story and not caring anything happening around her every single time she's watching it. It's like a magnet to her. I'm really happy that I bought this DVD, a great investment. This is one of the best DVD to my daughter among the collection of around 10 Barney DVD collection. Hope this helps your decisions. Happy New Year 2009!

Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn / Wrath of the Dragon (Double Feature) Review
This movie was good in such a weird way!! Some might not like it, but I think it was cool. It gets a little cartoonie & "candish" haha don't know how to explain it.....good movie, wouldn't watch it a second time, unless for the fighting scene with Vegeta.....
-The thing I love the MOST about DB/Z/GT is that it is like a Christian show!!
Goku is the one who always leads everyone the correct way, He is the savior of the world! (Symbolic to God leading us the right way & being our Savior!)
Goku trains & helps his friends to become good fighters (Symbolic to God "training" us in His Word)
Goku trusts in his friends knowing they will do the right thing. (Symbolic to God trusting that His true followers will obey Him & go His way)
Goku always shows love & mercy even to his enemies & evil people. (Symbolic to God showing all us people, whom have broken His Perfect Law -The Ten Commandments- and yet He still gives us Mercy to flee from sin & follow Him)
Goku believes anyone can change their life from bad, to good. (Symbolic to fleeing from our sins & following the Will of God)
Goku was like a father, always protecting people from evil (Symbolic to how God protects us from evil & when the storms comes, He's still with us)
Everytime it seems hopeless & like evil will prevail & there is no way out, Goku is always there to help! (Symbolic to no matter how strong the temptation or urge is, God always provides a way out for us because He is with us)
When the Saiyans or other fighters feel like there is no hope, they go into a new level of strength (Symbolic to when you are weakest you are strongest)
Like with us when we feel we can't resist the temptation or do the Will of God, we still press on and reach a new level or strength.....haha, like a Spiritual Super Saiyan, being much stronger into & with God then we were before.
When the fighters are fighting & they feel there is no hope, someone else usually comes to the aid (Symbolic to God will never leave us & He always provides help)
DBZ is not only a great show but I look at it through a Christian sense, look at it as a Christian sense, it's symbolic, it'll make it 10x better! I know it did for me!

Nice Double Feature - Joshua Landeros - Perris, CA USA
The last two Dragonball Z films unfortunately but two very remarkable ones none the less. I consider "Wrath of the Dragon" to be the better of the two with its emotional storyline and great new character, Taipon. "Fusion: Reborn" is more comical but no less great in my opinion. Vegeta makes his usual sudden appearence but gets an emotional tid bit of his own in "Fusion: Reborn" and Gogeta's short screen time is by far my favorite scene in either film. The villains are fantastic and the remastered look of the films are incredible.
One of the best - AKJ - Maryland, USA
These two movies rule, Wrath of the Dragon (Super Dragon Fist Explosion) actually fits into the DBZ timeline which most of them don't logically (though it's not considered canon). Fusion Reborn is comical and also quite intense.

Hermie & Friends: Flo the Lyin' Fly Review
Each Hermie and Friends DVD contains timeless truths for both children and their parents. Flo the Lyin' Fly, as the title suggests, shows the importance of telling the truth at a level that young children can understand. It is a story that resonates with their little hearts.
In this video, Flo' is a fly who wants to be liked and thinks that she has to embellish the truth, fabricate elaborate stories, for her friends to like her. She learns though that not telling the truth can get you into trouble as the lies add up. She discovers that others don't want to be around someone who lies. In the end, she discovers the problem with lying, seeks forgiveness from her friends and gains their trust.
Parents can use this video as a teaching tool about lying and the importance of telling the truth; because truth matters and it is knowable.

Another great Hermie! - S. Priebe - Phoenix, AZ USA
This is probably my personal favorite Hermie DVD. Now, I'm the mom - but my daughter loves it, too! I can't imagine giving this DVD only 4 stars...it definitely is well deserving of 5+++! This movie provided a great tool to introduce the concept of lying vs. telling the truth to our 3 year old. At this age, the concept can be a bit difficult, but this movie really brings it down to a kid's level of understanding. The DVD also features the "Water Beatles" and some great songs! (Sung by Third Day - really fun!)

We love Flo the Lying Fly. It is a great teaching tool for our 4 and 2 year olds. We love the entire Hermie video's and are deeply saddened by the loss of Don Knotts to be Wormie in upcoming films.
Recommend this to anyone wanting to promote proper and Biblical teaching in their children at such a young and vulnerable age.
